Fall is a favorite time for many. We get to pull out the warm sweaters and our favorite boot. Layering with shirts, sweaters and jackets is a wonderful look and fall and winter are the perfect time to embrace that look! If you are looking to expand your preppy fall fashion look, there are some great ideas that are always in style!

The Cardigan – Select solid color V-neck or crew-neck cardigan sweaters that are tipped in one accent color. Every girl should own a black, navy blue, hunter green and winter white cardigan sweater. Owning these classic colors will allow you to mix n’ match with a lot of other wardrobe items that you own.

You can select a full-length sleeve or go with a more modern sleeve like the 3/4 length.

The Tie – If you like the upscale preppy look invest in a few solid and tiny-print ties. Ties are very versatile and can dress up a look for a night out on the town or worn casually on the weekend. If you are on a tight budget, select one in a black print and one in a navy print to give you the most options.

The Classic Loafer – These days loafers come in many different fabrications ranging from leather, faux-leather, wool and cotton. To give you the most budget-friendly options stick with the solid colors. If you are a fashion-forward type of preppy girl go for some of the fun argyle, plaid and hounds-tooth prints.

The High-Waisted Trouser – Gone are the days of wearing low-riders and millions of preppy girls around the world are rejoicing with that news. This Fall we are seeing a return to the high-waisted trouser in classic black, heather gray, dark gray and navy blue colors. The high-waisted trouser is a great option if you want to elongate the look of your legs and can be paired up with your button-down shirts and cardigan sweaters for a relaxed look.

Blazers and Boyfriend Jackets – That’s right, they are back and they are HOT for the 2013 Fall season! When selecting a blazer and/or boyfriend jacket this season you want to look for ones what have that classic “1980’s” look to it. You can go with denim, cotton, twill or even with a corduroy fabrication. The jacket should be semi-fitted and not too boxy in it’s cut. Stick with solid colors to get the most mileage for your buck.
